About the Firm
Here at Gunter and Bennett, we represent individuals and entities under investigation for or charged with all state and federal crimes. With nearly 50 years combined experience, we provide representation from the investigation stage through trial and, if necessary, appeal. Our attorneys are on call 24 hours a day to help with any criminal law matter that may arise.
Our attorneys all began their legal careers as prosecutors in Travis County. Chris Gunter was chief of the trial division of the Travis County Attorney’s Office before moving to the District Attorney’s Office. Alan Bennett also worked as an Assistant County Attorney and Assistant District Attorney. Gene Anthes, our newest attorney, also began his career as an Assistant County Attorney. The knowledge and experience we acquired as prosecutors have benefited us greatly in defending our clients over the past 25 years.
Board certified in criminal law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization since 1985, Chris Gunter has tried hundreds of cases ranging from capital murder to public intoxication. In 1992 Alan Bennett joined the firm and since then the firm has worked tirelessly to help those who are in trouble. Each client we accept can be assured of our personal attention and dedicated representation.
Property crimes and drug offenses are also a significant part of our work – theft, embezzlement, burglary, credit card abuse, fraud, money laundering, and possession and delivery of controlled substances.
Our zeal in practicing exclusively criminal defense has led Gunter and Bennett to a high level of expertise in certain areas, particularly alcohol related offenses. Driving While Intoxicated, Intoxication Assault and Intoxication Manslaughter cases require an experienced attorney. Gunter and Bennett have handled thousands of these cases and is recognized as one of the leading law firms in the state in defending these charges. Our expertise extends to all aspects of these cases, including handling administrative license revocation (ALR) hearings to prevent the suspension of driver’s licenses and obtaining occupational driver’s licenses.
Legal emergencies can occur at any time of the day or night. We are available 24 hours a day to help secure the release from jail a friend or loved one. Call 512-476-2494 anytime.
